Mas Palou
Cris and Rafa are Sant Pere de Ribes locals, a small town near Sitges. Preparations were carried out in the family’s house among parents and brothers. The venue chosen for the ceremony and party was Mas Palou, a villa in the Penedés wine region of Catalunya.
The ceremony took place out in the villa’s patio among friends and family.
When I shot this wedding I was living in Sitges and it was years later that I moved to the more relaxed town of Sant Pere de Ribes which is 9 minutes away. This might sound crazy, but the apartment where Cris got ready among close family is literally attached to the building where I live now. My bedroom is wall to wall to their living room! Talk about life coincidences.
Mas Palou is a great location for wedding celebrations, especially its large patio where the many guests enjoyed dinner under the stars. There is room for a fun photo-call and a dancing floor which quickly became open and very active.
The photo session was done in the vicinity of the masía. There are plenty of beautiful spaces inside the property. Just check out the stairway connecting the two patios through an arch of leaves and flowers in the photos below.
The party started with the groom’s own band playing an intimate short concert. Rafa is the lead singer for “Ultim Cavall” (Last Horse in Catalan.) Venue: Mas Palou | Photographer: Ramiro Elena
Cris got ready at her brother’s apartment in the center of the village. A very modern well design house full of interesting details like… having a motorcycle in display in the living-room. It is Catalan tradition for the brother of the bride to read a letter or poem.

Guests at Mas Palou were already waiting for the couple’s arrival and grand entrance to the courtyard where the ceremony was to be held. In my post the Ultimate Guide to getting Married in Barcelona & Sitges, I explain how public officials working at the city hall will not travel to venues to officiate your wedding… Well, in this rare occasion, it did happen. The couple must have pulled some strings…

I mentioned earlier how Mas Palou has multiple cool spots to use as striking backdrops. Everywhere I turned, I saw doors, antic stairs, archways… so many possibilities, so many to choose from!

This was a great opportunity for Rafa to show off his musical talent. The handsome lead singer from Ultim Cavall and his band mates played a few songs for the guests right before the appetisers began rolling out of the kitchen.

A beautiful set up of tables and wedding decoration filled the front porch of the masía. Just married banners hanging between the trees above the guests and the couple. The night slowly closing in to give way to the party.
